Never Wash Windows Again!

Activ™ self-cleaning glass, a “Best of Show” product, will be featured on the Home & Garden Television (HGTV) cable network during April and May, in a program about the 2002 International Builders’ Show (IBS) held this past February, in Atlanta.

More than 71,000 people attended the IBS show, at which Pilkington rolled out the Activ™ glass campaign for North America. The display attracted great interest from homebuilders, designers, architects, window manufacturers and dealers.

“Pilkington Activ™ glass is a great example of how technology is making life more convenient for today’s homeowner,” said Jean Grenda, a producer with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). “With products like this, you can have the home of your dreams and have time to enjoy it.”

Activ™ self-cleaning glass virtually eliminates the amount of time and cost needed for homeowners and building owners to wash their windows. It is an excellent choice for transoms, skylights, picture windows and other windows that are hard to reach or cannot be easily cleaned from inside. RIVCO will be the first window manufacturer and supplier in New England to offer Activ™ glass, in several new construction and replacement window lines.

Self-cleaning Activ™ glass works in two steps. First, its properties use the sun’s ultraviolet light to continuously attack and dissolve dirt. Then, when it rains, water sheets off of the exterior surface, washing away any undissolved dirt and eliminating streaks and water spots. Once the Activ™ glass properties are activated, which is accomplished by “charging” the windows in several days of sunlight, the self-cleaning process even continues to work at night and on cloudy days.

Pilkington, with North American headquarters in Toledo, Ohio, is a world leader in the production of glass for architectural, residential, furniture, mirror, specialty and automotive applications.

RIVCO, headquartered in Penacook, New Hampshire, is New England’s largest manufacturer and supplier of windows, doors, kitchens and architectural millwork, with nine locations serving all six New England states. They can be reached at 1-800-99-RIVCO, or on the web at www.rivcoinc.com.
